How higher education connects and strengthens the ESG agenda

Yduqs and Instituto Yduqs will hold their annual ESG Forum on April 28. It is an opportunity to understand the various contributions of higher education institutions to the socio-environmental development of our country.

To account to society for its agenda with 24 public commitments and to explore the different ways for universities to connect with the ESG theme, Yduqs, one of the largest educational groups in the country, with 1.2 million students, will carry out, on April 28, the second edition of its ESG Forum – an opportunity to learn about ESG and strategies, initiatives and life examples that make tangible the positive impacts of education on society. The event will be attended by company executives and renowned external guests in their areas, and it will be free. It will be streamed on the Yduqs YouTube channel, starting at 3 pm on the 28th.

"Advancing the ESG agenda is a process, involving intentionality, collaboration and governance. We, in the education sector, have the privilege of working in an area that is pure positive social impact, but with this privilege comes the responsibility of expanding access to information, to best practices. That is the Forum's purpose. Not only telling how we are doing, but helping organizations and individuals to see themselves in this agenda and to understand the theme more deeply", explains Cláudia Romano, vice president of Government Relations, Sustainability and Communication at Yduqs and President of Instituto Yduqs, the social arm of the group, which also signs the event.

The idea that the social transformation that Education induces happens, in fact, when graduates reach the world of work serves as the central theme of the 2023 Forum. The high school journey to the market is, however, full of challenges, and the event will address possible solutions for the main ones – the issue of broad access, academic success, support in defining a career and the role of technology as a tool for teachers and students. To broaden the debate, the Forum will have special guests such as federal deputy Tabata Amaral, educator and philosopher Gabriel Chalita and the president of Instituto Península, Heloísa Morel, in addition to several Yduqs executives and professors.

Sustainability Report - The Forum will also mark the launch of the Yduqs Sustainability Report for the year 2022. This year, the document, which is a reference in its kind, will have an integrated reporting format, independent external assurance and a broader set of indicators, from the GRI and SASB methodologies. Among the 24 goals defined in 2022, the provision of environmental training content across the group's institutions stands out, which will reach 2 million students by 2025, several pioneering actions on the environmental front (such as the completion of the exhaustive inventory of greenhouse gases and self-generation of electricity) and assistance to more than 700,000 people through outreach activities and actions by Instituto Yduqs. Yduqs is one of the few organizations in the country and the only one in the Education industry to be rated A by MSCI, an international reference consultancy in ESG practices.
