Yduqs Completes Acquisition of Newton Paiva University Center after CADE Approval

Leading Institution in Health Programs, such as Dentistry, in Belo Horizonte, Joins Wyden Network, Known for Quality Education in Brazil's North, Northeast, and Southeast Regions

Rio de Janeiro, November 15, 2024 – After receiving approval from Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), Yduqs has finalized the acquisition of Newton Paiva University Center. The transaction marks the integration of one of Belo Horizonte's most respected educational institutions, with over 50 years of history, into the Wyden network, which is part of the Yduqs group.

Newton Paiva University Center is a benchmark in Belo Horizonte, particularly in Health fields, where it stands out with courses such as Dentistry, a local market leader serving approximately 20% of health students in the region. With this acquisition, Yduqs is expanding its footprint in Minas Gerais, where it already operates under the Ibmec and Estácio brands, further underscoring its commitment to a diversified, high-quality educational portfolio.

The acquisition proposal was made in May 2024 and approved without restrictions, allowing the two institutions to finalize the business agreements. The transaction involves the full acquisition of Newton Paiva University Center for R$ 49 million, with an initial payment of R$ 34.3 million, and the remainder to be paid over five years, adjusted for the CDI.

Aroldo Alves, CEO of Wyden, emphasized the acquisition's significance: “Newton has all the attributes we seek in an institution: high-quality, academic excellence, and a deep connection to the city. We are excited to work to ensure that Newton continues to deliver top-tier education and to contribute to its advancement with investments in technology, infrastructure, and new learning tools.”

Preserving Tradition and Investing in Technology

With this integration, Newton Paiva will now operate as Newton Paiva Wyden, marking a new chapter for the institution, which will retain its brand and its two locations in Belo Horizonte. This continuity ensures that the tradition and respect earned over decades remain intact, while new investments in technology, infrastructure, and educational tools will strengthen its academic excellence.

“The integration with the Wyden network represents a unique opportunity to further enhance our students’ academic experience, placing them at the center of all our initiatives. With the support and expertise of a strong and innovative network, we can offer new avenues for development and learning aligned with the highest educational standards, without losing the essence and tradition we have built over the years. We are excited to strengthen, alongside Wyden and Yduqs, our commitment to delivering transformative, high-quality education,” says Paula Cambraia, Chancellor and Director of Newton Paiva.

Newton currently offers 26 on-campus undergraduate courses, in addition to hybrid and Distance Education (EAD) options, and postgraduate programs. The incorporation adds over 7,000 students to Wyden’s portfolio, which today includes approximately 72,000 students across 10 institutions in Brazil's North, Northeast, and Southeast regions.

This acquisition reinforces Yduqs’ commitment to expanding a quality-driven educational network dedicated to educational and social development across Brazil, merging tradition with innovation to benefit students and communities nationwide.
