Yduqs Earns Gold Seal in Public Emissions Registry for Second Consecutive Year
Yduqs, one of Brazil's largest education groups, reaffirms its leadership in environmental education, impacting over one million students with sustainability content in recent years. Acknowledging the urgency of the global climate crisis, the company maintains one of the most comprehensive environmental management programs in the sector. This effort was rewarded with the achievement of the Gold Seal in the Public Emissions Registry for the second consecutive year, a platform developed by the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program (PBGHG).
The announcement was made on Wednesday, August 21, in São Paulo during the annual Public Emissions Registry event by FGV, where the 2024 Cycle Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission inventories for the year 2023 were revealed. The Brazilian GHG Protocol Program promotes a culture of GHG emission inventories in Brazil and provides international standards for the calculation and disclosure of these inventories.
Since 2008, the Public Emissions Registry has helped Brazilian companies publish their GHG emission inventories. The Gold Seal certifies that YDUQS' inventory is complete and verified by an external and independent company, enhancing the credibility of the document.
“I want to extend my sincere thanks to all the Yduqs Group brands for their dedication to creating our Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory. Each of you has been essential, ensuring the accuracy of the information and evidence while demonstrating exemplary care in everyday decisions. This collective effort has enabled us to measure, monitor, and reduce our emissions effectively and continuously in the fight against climate change”, said Jonathan Martins Neumann, Environmental Analyst at Yduqs.
Progress on the Environmental Agenda
This is the second year that our greenhouse gas inventory has undergone an external audit and been publicly registered. Our progress in this agenda has been strengthening year by year.
Highlights of our evolution:
-
2022: Expanded controls to include Scope 3, measuring indirect emissions from our value chain. Launched 24 ESG goals, six of which focus on the environmental dimension, impacting three SDGs. Set a target to impact 2 million people with environmental content.
-
2023: First external audit of the GHG inventory and public registration in the RPE, resulting in the Gold Seal from the PBGHG Protocol. Impacted more than 300,000 students with environmental content and implemented 10 clean energy projects. Launched the Introduction to Environmental Education course in partnership with Estácio. Yduqs became a carbon-neutral company, offsetting 100% of GHG emissions by investing in two renewable energy projects in the Northeast.
“I believe this success is a direct reflection of our commitment to ownership and results, where each team acts responsibly, with excellence, and in collaboration to achieve our goals. Being recognized with the Gold Seal in the RPE for the second year in a row demonstrates our dedication and relentless pursuit of sustainable practices across our operations. Thank you all for embodying and living the values of Yduqs”, said Anderson Nogueira, Real Estate and Facilities Manager.
Ongoing Commitment
Of Yduqs' 24 ESG goals, six are linked to the environmental dimension, addressing three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One of these goals aligns with the company's educational mission: to impact 2 million people with environmental content. Among the initiatives is the Introduction to Environmental Education course in partnership with Estácio. Yduqs is also investing in 12 clean energy research projects through its educational institutions and developing strategies to mitigate emissions across its operations.
"This achievement reflects our internal policies, which follow the best market practices. As an educational company, we have impacted our students and community with environmental content. But our environmental commitment goes beyond that: it lies in our constant pursuit of water and energy efficiency, sustainable management of our facilities, and waste management. We have become a reference in our sector for GHG emissions management because we understand our role in combating climate change," said Cláudia Romano, Vice President of Yduqs Group.
