Yduqs joins Educa 2030, the UN Global Compact educational agenda in Brazil, as ambassador company

The movement aims to create a business alliance in the country to advance topics such as increasing the population's educational attainment, productive integration of youth, and acceleration of women's careers in STEM fields. Yduqs and Globo were chosen by the United Nations Global Compact to lead this agenda as ambassadors

Just weeks after achieving the status of a global ESG leader by MSCI, Yduqs commits to being an ambassador for the Educa 2030 movement, an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact in Brazil that will leverage the Education pillar of the UN's 2030 Agenda. Educa 2030 was officially launched on November 29th during the 12th Global Human Rights Forum at the UN headquarters in Geneva. Its objective is to engage companies in committing to ambitious goals for the advancement of education in Brazil, with a focus on increasing educational attainment among the population, productive inclusion of young people, and the greater participation of women in STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). In addition to Yduqs, Globo, a leading Brazilian media organization, is also an ambassador of the movement, which counts with partnerships from UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) and the Brazilian Ministry of Labor and Employment.

"We aim to multiply, in our country, the transformation we witness daily in our institutions, where education generates empowerment, inclusion, and citizenship," says Cláudia Romano, Vice President and Head of ESG at Yduqs and President of Instituto Yduqs, an organization that will also work to bring new companies into the Educa 2030 agenda. "Nothing could be more aligned with Yduqs' history and vision than this agenda proposed by the United Nations Global Compact in Brazil, with whom we have had a long-standing partnership and a strong alignment, given that our ESG strategies and goals are based on the Sustainable Development Goals they disseminate and promote in the country. We will work together for a broad mobilization, an alliance, to break down the barriers that persist between millions of people and a fairer, more inclusive, and diverse future for our society."

"Educa 2030 has come to contribute to the promotion of diverse education aligned with the 2030 Agenda and Human Rights," says Carlo Pereira, CEO of the United Nations Global Compact in Brazil. He adds, "Companies play a fundamental role in our society and have a significant responsibility in promoting education, both in considering the structure of their professionals and businesses and their impact on their surroundings. This is an essential agenda for sustainable development and economic growth in the country."

Commitments of participating companies - When joining the Educa 2030 Movement, companies must choose one or more of the following commitments to be achieved by 2030:

Option A: Offer the opportunity for all organization employees without a high school or technical education to complete it by 2030, or;

Option B: Offer the opportunity for all organization employees and third parties without a high school or technical education to complete it by 2030, or;

Option C: Achieve a target of 30% of organization employees with completed higher education by 2030.

Achieve the legal quota for apprentices by 2030, considering diversity inclusion, and provide training in sustainable development for all young people.

Provide professional development for women, considering all their intersecting identities, in STEM careers, both in core activities and support roles.

UNICEF and the Ministry of Labor and Employment are participating in the initiative as strategic partners and provide technical support to the project. "UNICEF has been involved since 2020 in the school-to-work transition and productive inclusion of adolescents and young people through the One Million Opportunities (1MiO) initiative, which has already generated more than 300,000 opportunities for decent work and professional training with a network of nearly 2,000 partners, including governments, companies, and civil society organizations," says Gustavo Heidrich, Program Officer at UNICEF in Brazil.

For Luiz Marinho, Minister of Labor and Employment, the collaboration of different sectors of society makes a difference in the project. "The Educa 2030 Movement enables coordination among different actors with the aim of enhancing the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals. The engagement of companies in promoting professional training and increasing the educational attainment of their workers is essential. The multi-actor strategy promoted by the Global Compact is crucial for social inclusion in our country." Learn more about Yduqs' ESG Agenda in detail by clicking here.
