Yduqs integrates the Public Registry of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and wins the Gold Seal of the Brazilian Program GHG Protocol

The RPE membership signifies the company's commitment to providing public and high-quality emissions data to society

Yduqs has just taken a significant step in consolidating its environmental agenda. We recently joined the Public Registry of Emissions, a platform developed by the Brazilian Program GHG Protocol (PBGHG), which since 2008 has helped national companies publish their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions inventories. In addition, we have obtained the Gold Seal from PBGHG, which certifies that our inventory is complete and verified by an external and independent company, increasing the document's degree of reliability.

The achievement was announced on October 24th, in São Paulo, during the annual event of the FGV Public Registry of Emissions, where the GHG emissions inventories for the 2023 Cycle, related to the year 2022, were disclosed. In addition to promoting the culture of GHG emissions inventories in Brazil, as part of the agenda to combat climate change in the corporate environment, the Brazilian Program GHG Protocol offers high-quality international instruments and standards for accounting and disclosing emissions inventories.

"This accession to the Public Registry of Emissions marks our company's commitment to contributing to the provision of reliable, transparent, and quality emissions data for the community, and strengthens our position in the educational sector, demonstrating Yduqs' pioneering spirit in environmental education," comments Cláudia Romano, chairperson of the Yduqs Institute, VP of the Yduqs Group and head of ESG.

Our evolution in the environmental dimension

This is the first year that our greenhouse gas inventory has been externally audited and publicly recorded, but our progress on this agenda has been strengthening every year. In 2020, we completed a Distributed Generation project, with the implementation of a solar plant in the state of Rio de Janeiro that has the capacity to produce 190 MWh/month.

Still in 2021, we began preparing our GHG emissions inventory with parameters aligned with the profile of our operation, which directed our focus to the company's key activities, including those that are our direct responsibility (Scope 1) and indirect responsibility associated with electricity consumption (Scope 2). In 2022, we reinforced controls with Scope 1 (33%), Scope 2 (13%) and expanded this process to measure indirect emissions from our value chain (Scope 3 – 55%), which will be expanded over the next few years with the inclusion of new parameters.

In 2022, we also launched our 24 ESG goals, of which 6 goals in the environmental dimension, which meet 3 SDGs. One of them is to impact 2 million people with environmental content, such as the Introduction to Environmental Education Course recently launched in partnership with Estácio. In addition, we are investing in clean energy research and developing strategies to control and mitigate emissions in our operations.

Our strategic guidelines include eco-efficiency actions, selective collection, and reduced generation of waste. "All of this corroborates our internal policies, which are based on legal compliance and best market practices. Environmental concern is perceived, whether in water and energy efficiency, in the buildings that are already designed with such guidelines, or in the management of solid waste and effluents generated in our operations. We are already a reference in GHG emissions management; thus reinforcing our commitment to society and to actions aimed at combating climate change," says Anderson de Araujo Nogueira, Facilities Manager at Yduqs.
